About us

About Us

Gamlingay and Gransden Scout Group was established in 1972. It is a registered charity in its own right, but is part of the wider Scout Association (U.K.).

Scouting enables young people to experience challenges and experiences outside of their normal comfort zone. Being involved in Scouting provides a variety of wider life skills for children (branded Skills for Life by the Scout Association).

The Group provides Scouting for young people from the communities of Abbotsley, Eltisley, Everton, Gamlingay, Great Gransden, Little Gransden, Waresley, Wrestlingworth, and the surrounding areas. Our headquarters building is in Cinques Road, Gamlingay, is used 5 days a week and provides a Scouting experience for over 125 young people between 6 and 18 years of age, all drawn from our local communities. The Group is run entirely by volunteers from within our communities.

The Group currently runs 7 sections; two Beaver Colonies for 6 to 8-year-olds; two Cub Packs for 8 to 10½ year-olds; two Scout Troops for 10½ to 14-year-olds; one Explorer Unit for 14 to 18-year-olds.
